Here is an example of something I wrote, recorded, and produced here in my studio. It's a quick history of my experience as an audio engineer, along with some music I wrote, arranged, and performed for this piece. Created in Pro Tools, and mixed with Izotope and Waves plugins. Stereo deliverable mixed to -16 LUFS.
The Carlat Psychiatry Podcast. Published on 01.01.2024. This is a scripted podcast produced by Carlat Publishing which I edit, mix, and master. Each episode is put together based on the script, and previous knowledge of the clients preferences (such as timing, pauses between speakers and transitions). I'm asked to choose music for transitions (that I have been provided) as well as cleaning up any unwanted noise or distracting sounds. Mixed down to a stereo deliverable at -16 LUFS. I've included the first third of this particular episode here.
This is an excerpt of a podcast I edited and mixed for the Rubbermaid Corporation in 2022. The intro for each episode would include clips pulled from throughout the podcast as a teaser for the listener. I was given a script along with the raw audio which would include: multiple remote interviews, voice overs, a commercial, as well as other sound effects and extraneous audio for each episode. This clip is mixed to stereo file at -16 LUFS, although I would usually submit a mono deliverable at -19 LUFS at this particular clients request.
This is an excerpt of a podcast I edited and mixed in Adobe Audition. It's a good example of a typical conversational podcast where there is no script. I'm just given the audio and asked to clean up any noise issues and extraneous dialogue at my own discretion. Usually, adding boilerplate intro and outro, transition music, and returning a mixed (eq, compression, noise reduction, etc.) and mastered deliverable. This was mixed to a stereo file at -16 LUFS.
These are two tape sync examples recorded in '22 and 23' respectively. Both of these are RAW and unedited, as tape sync recordings are always submitted unedited and unprocessed. These recordings require going on location and capturing clean audio alongside of a remote interview. At times I will provide extra equipment for the producer I'm working with such as headphones, microphones, etc. Both of these examples were captured using a Zoom H4N Pro and a Rode M5 microphone.
